Installing Sheetize MCP Server via ZIP

Installing Sheetize MCP Server via ZIP

The ZIP archive is ideal for developers who prefer a manual approach to managing libraries. This method lets you download and extract the required DLL files directly, without relying on a package manager or installer.

How to Install via ZIP Archive

  • Download the ZIP Archive:

    • Click the v26.10 ZIP to download the latest version of Sheetize MCP Server as a ZIP file.
  • Extract the Contents:

    • Once downloaded, unzip the archive to a folder of your choice. You can keep the files in a shared location or within your project structure.
  • Add the custom MCP Server to Your Project

If you are using Visual Studio Community 2026

  • Create an mcp.json file in the solution folder with the following configuration:
  • Replace path\to\licence.lic with the path to your licence file, or remove the line for the free version.
{
  "inputs": [],
  "servers": {
    "sheetize-mcp-server": {
      "type": "stdio",
      "command": "dotnet",
      "args": [
        "path\\to\\SheetizeMCPServer.dll",
        "--licencePath",
        "path\\to\\licence.lic"
      ],
      "env": {}
    }
  }
}

If you are using Visual Studio Code

  • In the project root create the folder and file .vscode/mcp.json with the following content:
  • Replace path\to\licence.lic with the path to your licence file, or remove the line for the free version.
{
  "servers": {
    "sheetize-mcp-server": {
      "type": "stdio",
      "command": "dotnet",
      "args": [
        "path\\to\\SheetizeMCPServer.dll",
        "--licencePath",
        "path\\to\\licence.lic"
      ]
    }
  }
}

If you are using Claude Desktop

  • Open claude_desktop_config.json and add the following configuration block:
  • Replace path\to\licence.lic with the path to your licence file, or remove the line for the free version.
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "sheetize-mcp-server": {
      "command": "dotnet",
      "args": [
        "path\\to\\SheetizeMCPServer.dll",
        "--licencePath",
        "path\\to\\licence.lic"
      ]
    }
  }
}

If you are using ChatGPT Desktop

  • Go to %USERPROFILE%\.codex\ and open config.yaml, then add the following configuration:
  • Replace path\to\licence.lic with the path to your licence file, or omit the line for the free version.
[mcp_servers.sheetize_mpc_server]
command = 'C:\Program Files\dotnet\dotnet.exe'
args = [
    'path\\to\\SheetizeMCPServer.dll',
    '--licencePath',
    'path\\to\\licence.lic'
]
  • Manual Updates:
    • When a new version of Sheetize MCP Server is released, you’ll need to manually download the updated ZIP archive and replace the old DLLs in your project with the new ones.

Pros of Using the ZIP Archive

  • Complete Control:

    • You decide exactly where the DLLs live and how they are referenced. This is useful if you prefer a bespoke setup or need to manage dependencies by hand.
  • No Dependency on Package Managers:

    • Unlike NuGet, you aren’t reliant on a package manager. This can be advantageous in environments where such tools are unavailable or undesirable.
  • Portability:

    • The ZIP archive can be effortlessly shared and moved between systems, making it ideal for projects that need to be portable or distributed without external tooling.

Cons of Using the ZIP Archive

  • Manual Management:

    • Updates and dependency handling aren’t automated. You must keep track of new releases and ensure every project points to the correct DLL versions.
  • Risk of Version Conflicts:

    • In larger teams or across multiple projects, different versions of the DLLs can cause conflicts if not carefully coordinated.
  • No Automatic Updates:

    • You won’t receive notifications of new releases, so you must routinely check for updates to avoid using outdated libraries.
